Psychographic-why are they watching

Geodemographic-Where are they watching?

Age, Gender, Race, Sexuality, Social Class, Ethnicity, Religion

5 terrestrial and 1 satellite channels.  What is it suitable for?

 demographic profile-

Gender, age, marital status (if necessary) issues they are dealing with (dependent), income

Google statistics and use Google books (graphs and pie charts). Find out about the person your using for your target audience in the Multicam.


Geodemographic, where are there? (country)

Subtitles? Different Language?


Pyschographic for a dieting show

Concerned with health and appearance, wants a healthy lifestyle but doesn't have much time.

Enjoys going online In the evening, big fan of Pinterest, Tends to favour quality over economy.

Finds fulfilment in her career and family.

Values time with a small group of friends.


Look at the two lists above it's easy to see why you need both. Use demographics alone and you only have a very hazy outline of your audience. You understand her challenges but not where to find her and what really moves her to action. Pyschographics give you so much more insight.
